Welcome to HCW

Creativity is not a thing we possess, like some kind of internal organ…It’s a process, and it has to be nurtured and encouraged and improved. It’s a way of thinking and being, and it can be learned. It can be learned through a gradual process of opening ourselves up to the world.

I know first-hand that honoring your creative impulses is challenging. I've been a mom for 24 years and a performing songwriter, an author, and a therapist and worn a million other hats, just like you.

While writing my PhD dissertation study was on the topic of creative productivity while mothering, I realized that many of the constraints that we face as artistic women and mothers are related to a sense of isolation, lack of confidence, multiple demands on time, and a lack of support. and mentors. The barriers to actually doing your creative work and then getting the word out can seem overwhelming. So, I decided to launch this website as a resource for encouraging and inspiring women who are caretakers of others and who want to honor their creative impulses.

The world needs artistic voices and creative expressions of women! Welcome to the HCW community. I'm so glad you're here.
