HCW Mission is to:
1) Provide a platform to share women's diverse creative products and processes.
2) Expand the definition of "creativity" beyond the creative arts and eminence, and to include process and product.
3) Create inspiring content and helpful tools to help women honor your creativity.
4) Create a diverse community of supportive and nurturing women.
HighlyCreativeWomen.com was born out of PhD dissertation on creative productivity in mothers. Through my studies I have been reminded about the fact that women have been denied access to certain resources and support, and their work has traditionally been devalued. Additionally, our accepted definition of what is "creative" is a gendered construct.
Women are often socialized to feel uncomfortable about putting their work "out there" or being in the limelight. That needs to change. So, if you'll let me, I'll spread the word about your creativity and together we can include women's voices in how we as a culture define creativity. I believe that the perspective of female creative work is part of transforming the world and creating a more caring and connected society. I want to share your creativity with the world. Please consider submitting your creative experiences and let your voice and values be heard!
